Declan Rice signs new long-term contract

West Ham United is delighted to announce that Declan Rice has signed a new long-term contract until summer 2024, with a further one year option for the Club to extend.

The outstanding Rice, who turns 20 in January, has committed his future to the Club he joined as a 14-year-old schoolboy.

The teenager, who has been in fantastic form in recent months and passed 50 first-team appearances in December, is looking forward to continuing his flourishing career in Claret and Blue.
Joint-Chairman David Sullivan, who was instrumental in finalising the deal, was thrilled to secure Rice’s services for the next five-and-a-half years.

Re: Declan Rice signs new long-term contract
Blimey Capitol Man we agree on this. Rice suffered rejection by Chelsea as a teenager so knows how hard he's had to work to stay a pro. For that simple reason he values the success he's now getting without having his head turned which is probably what happened to Reece Oxford.

As long as WH match his ambitions and progress he will stay loyal but soon he will be playing for England and getting plaudits and advice from agents...

A lot depends on if Sullivan gives Pelligrini the funds in the Summer to elevate the club to the so called next level.
I honestly believe Rice would love to be part of Pelligrini's project

Re: Declan Rice signs new long-term contract
I think we will hold onto him for at least another year. He’s got the potential to dominate the midfield in a big side and is starting to assert himself on games, but he’s not there yet.

He needs a proper haircut! saw him interviewed after the game, looks like something Mr Spock has spawned......

Do yourself Favour Dec and go see a proper barber?

Re: Declan Rice signs new long-term contract
He is so composed considering his age. A Guardiola sort of player. Let’s just hope we can resist because I would be very surprised if we don’t get a very big offer in the summer.

He was a different class from everyone on the pitch today. I give it a year before he’s gone, good luck to him too

Man City wanted Jorginho last year, they'll be looking for someone of similar experience.

They're a way off wanting Rice just yet

Hopefully he'll see the reception Bonzo got and what it means to be a West Ham legend

Hopefully the rumors of city signing ndombele are true. As I’ve said before Rice is already top class. We’ll be doing well to keep him next season

I wish I could believe he would still be here in ten year's time.

Pippi Longstocking got a bit of lesson today.
Quieter in the second half but Declan Rice was ridiculously outstanding in the first.
Ran the game

Would that the be boy Longstaff who was totally outplayed, was totally in Decs shadow, got booked because he was being taught how to play and then suffered some ‘secret’ injury.

Not fit to put dubbin on our young Rice’s boots.

Interested to see this Sean Longstaff tonight since the GEORDIES seem convinced he’s the better player

Is this for his performances in defence?

As we all know he will never be a midfielder.

TBH I don't think he's good enough*. They "need" to win the Champions League, so they'll buy an established star.

Guardiola confirms they'll be looking for a defensive midfielder in the summer.

Let's hope they think Declan isn't experienced enough.

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has been crowned Young Player of the Year at the London Football Awards in Battersea. Rice beat off competition from Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Arsenal’s French summer signing Matteo Guendouzi.

Must admit I not really care what Country he plays for. I do however find it amusing that the Press are wheeling out ex Ireland Players to criticise him
Andy Townsend (born in the Irish Village of Maidstone Kent)
Micky Quinn (Born in Liverpool and had Italian Grandparents)

My personal Opinion is you can only play for the country you was born in (Regardless of where your long last Aunties 2nd cousin was born)

I seem to remember that there was calls for Paolo Di Canio to be called up to the England Squad (Think he was eligible due to length of time in UK and never having played for Italian National Team)

'he dont play for the top 6 so he wont get called up'

That's bollocks. Of the 25 man squad picked v Croatia, 10 were from teams outside the top 6.
